about me |

I received my Masters of Arts in
Counseling with an emphasis in Mental Health from Seattle University
and my Bachelor of Arts from Whitman College.
I am a
Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Child Mental Health Specialist and a Mental Health
Professional.*
In addition to having a private practice, I am the Counseling
Practicum & Internship Coordinator for Seattle University’s Graduate
Program in Counseling and School Psychology. I also teach in an
adjunct capacity and provide clinical supervision in Seattle
University’s Graduate Program in Counseling and
School Psychology.
I have experience providing therapy at community mental health
agencies, as well as doing advocacy work for and direct service with
homeless women, families, and youth.

*Licensed Mental Health Counselor
A Licensed Mental Health
Counselor must have a Masters Degree in
counseling from an accredited college or university. Such
person shall
have, in addition to their advanced degree, at least 3000
hours in a
position involving the direct treatment of persons with
mental illness,
or emotional disturbance, 1200 of which must be direct client
contact
hours, and 100 hours of individual formal meetings with an
Approved
Supervisor who has an advanced degree in counseling. In
addition to
required hours, such person will also pass the exam for the
National
Board of Certified Counselors.
Child Mental Health Specialist
A Child Mental Health Specialist must be a Mental Health
Professional
(MHP). In addition to MHP status, he or she must have a
minimum of
one hundred actual hours (not quarter or semester hours)
of special
training in child development and the treatment of
children and youth
with serious emotional disturbance and their
families. He or she must
also have the equivalent of one year of
full-time experience in the
treatment of seriously emotionally
disturbed children and youth and
their families under the
supervision of a Child Mental Health Specialist.
Mental Health Professional
A Mental Health Professional must have a Masters Degree or further
advanced degree in counseling or one of the social sciences from an
accredited college or university. Such person shall have, in
addition to
their advanced degree, at least two years of full time
experience (4160
hours) in a position involving the direct treatment
of persons with
mental illness, or emotional disturbance, such
experience gained under
the supervision of a Mental Health
Professional.
